Shadow and the Spark

A hunger flares, a shadow in the mind,
Its greedy blaze leaves brighter hopes behind.

Desire takes hold, a tale of empty plea,
My racing heart yearns for what blinds to see.

No calm can enter when pride locks the door,
Each burning wish just leaves my spirit sore.

Illusion’s gleam splits life in two to stray,
I reach for love, but fear still calls me home.

No peace blossoms where that fire holds tight,
My truest self hides lost in endless night.

Its clever snare keeps hearts in endless flight,
Yet I still chase the dreams that fade from light.

That hunger burns, it whispers easy lies,
Yet a deeper light within forever lies.
